The Travel with 50mm Prime Lens
The 50mm Prime lens is the standard for photography. When I travel abroad, the 50mm lens is the best to take photos with film camera.
When I travelled at Venice in Winter 2012, I used DSLR and rangefinder Kiev 4a. In those days, Kiev 4a was my main film camera for street and travel photography. Jupiter 8 is famous 50mm Russian lens and shows great contrast and image quality. Also, it is ideal for travel photography that the lens is light and reasonable price.
In October 2018, I travelled at Bruges and took my Leica IIF with Summicron 5cm. Needless to say, Leica IIF is compact size compared with SLR. Small and Light baggage is the best on travel.
Bruges is small city and has a lot of narrow passage way, so that I’d considered taking a 35mm lens. But, taking along the 50mm lens was the right decision. If I had used 35mm lens, the obtained photos would have shown too wide scene.
The advantage by using 50mm prime lens is that we able to take images considered eyes view. Thus we don’t necessary decide the angle of view. This is the big advantage for street photography. The reason is because it enable to photograph quickly.
I mainly use digital camera when travelling oversea, however it is clearly different the digital and film photo that these are even taken as same focal length. The film photos shows picturesque scene compared with digital photos. The film camera with 50mm lens is necessary for my photography.
